Selenskyjs Warnung vor einem Angriff innerhalb von 48 Stunden

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned on July 25, 2026, of a “massive” new Russian attack on Ukraine. In a post on X, the Ukrainian President stated that intelligence suggested Moscow had prepared missiles within the next 48 hours.

This warning follows Russian missile strikes on the Kyiv region on Friday, which killed at least 10 people and injured around 100. The strikes reportedly hit an arms exhibition where representatives of the Ukrainian defence industry were present. A further five people were killed following guided aerial bomb strikes in Slovyansk, per Zelenskyy.

Latvia’s foreign minister confirmed that the Latvian consulate in Slovyansk was damaged in the attacks. Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s top diplomat, condemned the strike on the consulate, stating it underscores Moscow’s utter disregard for international law. She added, Latvia has our full support.

Gespräche mit Trump und US-Waffenlieferungen

Zelenskyy stated on Wednesday that he had spoken with US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, about efforts to end the conflict. A good and important conversation about how to energize diplomacy and bring peace closer, he said. Simultaneously, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sat down with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) foreign ministers‘ summit in the Philippines.

The Ukrainian Defense Industry Council, which describes itself as the country’s largest association of private defense manufacturers, stated that industry representatives were at the site when it was hit, though it did not immediately provide further details.

Ruslan Kravchenko, the country’s prosecutor general, opened a war crimes investigation into the attack and a separate criminal case over possible negligence in organizing the event. Investigators will examine who approved its location, timing and format, and whether adequate precautions were taken, Kravchenko said.

And in the south-eastern city of Zaporizhzhia, a Russian strike set fire to a shopping centre, injuring a number of people. On the Russian side, the acting governor of the Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, reported on social media early on Saturday a massive enemy drone attack on the city of Belgorod.

The rightwing US influencer Laura Loomer visited Ukraine and met Zelenskyy, who says he expects to meet Donald Trump in Washington next week. In an interview with Loomer, Zelenskyy said he would probably attend the funeral of senator Lindsey Graham and hold talks with Trump. Zelenskyy said cooperation between Kyiv and Washington on drones would include a US factory to produce the unmanned aerial vehicles using Ukraine’s advanced technology. He said Ukraine wanted to build quickly on an initial agreement on drones clinched with Washington. Ukraine has excelled at drone innovation as it has pursued asymmetrical warfare against Russia during their four-year-old conflict.

The acting governor of Kyiv region, Ruslan Oliynyk, said that a day of mourning would be observed on Saturday in the region.
