ONE-PIECE SERIES. Netflix has released eight episodes of its One Piece series. Is a sequel in the form of a season 2 already planned?

We’ll have to wait, therefore, for Netflix to confirm the release of a second season to rejoice. In any case, the manga offers plenty of storylines for a sequel. The finale of One Piece also heralds the arrival of a new antagonist in possible future episodes (Warning, spoilers). We can see Smoker from behind, a naval officer who has swallowed a devil fruit that surrounds him in smoke and who has made it his mission to capture Luffy. He is the main antagonist of the Loguetown arc in the manga.
If season 2 of the One Piece series is confirmed, we could also see new crew members like Chopper or Robin, but also Ace, Vivi and the terrifying Crocodile, the great villain and leader of Barockwerke. This should thus begin on the saga Alabasta. So it’s a very dense and eventful arc that would open up with Season 2, but it remains to be seen if changes are made!

So what about the early feedback from aficionados? According to the American review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, which was taken over by fans, the public gives a positive opinion of 94%. 26 reviews from the international press were listed, which corresponds to a rating of 81%. Does Eiichiro Oda like Netflix’s One Piece series?
There is one person who had to be happy with the Netflix series: Eiichiro Oda, creator of One Piece. The mangaka admitted in a letter shared on the streaming platform’s social media on July 22 that he “didn’t make any concessions” on the series, without really giving his opinion on the final portrayal. However, he admitted that scenes that he felt were not up to par were returned. The manga took some liberties with me
As other disappointing live-action manga adaptations have shown in the past, adapting a Japanese comic can be a real headache. Eiichiro Oda, author of the world’s best-selling Shonen series, was involved in the development of the series, but that doesn’t detract from the freedoms and differences in screenwriting.
This first season of the One Piece series largely adapts the East Bue arc, i.e. the first 12 volumes of the manga. Notable changes, however, include the more prominent role occupied by Koby, Luffy’s friend from the Navy. Additionally, the character Garp is introduced earlier in the series while he doesn’t interact with his grandson until much later in the manga. The series is also more vivid in these violent scenes than the manga could have been, at least at the beginning. This is certainly the reason why the series is not recommended on Netflix for people aged 13 and over.
