Shunned by the gratin and bereft of television last year, the Golden Globes made their big comeback on American television on Tuesday, praising director Steven Spielberg, who was in the room alongside many Hollywood heavyweights, despite accusations of racism and sexism that have clouded that well present was picture of these awards.
The American filmmaker received the Golden Globe for best director for his very intimate film The Fabelmans, which also won Best Drama Film. He starred in the Irish tragic comedy The Banshees by Inisherin. The film, which tells the sudden end of a friendship on an imaginary island in the 1920s, won three Golden Globes, including Best Comedy and Best Actor for Colin Farrell.
