Filippo Capobianco, Poetry Slam World Champion: “Poetry is play and theater”

The actor and poet in an interview on “Corriere” on the occasion of Poetry Month – Jessica Chia / CorriereTv

«What is poetry for me? I don’t know, it has to do with the game and with everyone sitting in a room at the end of a day and trying to kind of think about what happened in the last 24 hours as a community, as a city, as… family. Because we need to stop for a moment and think together, through poetry, about what happened and what is happening.”

On the occasion Poetry Month, Filippo Capobianco, actor, author and student of physics and science communication at the University of Pavia, visited “Corriere della Sera”. Capobianco, the 2023 Poetry Slam World Champion, explained his meaning of poetry; He talked about his journey from theater to poetry slam and reflected on the relationship between poetry and young people today. For the readers of the “Corriere” he also appeared in two performances in the rooms of Via Solferino in Milan. His show from 2021 My mother is a notary, but also a risotto cooker is performed in theaters and clubs throughout Italy.
