“Poland, 1980. Students Ludwik and Janusz fall in love because of a banned novel by James Baldwin. But in Warsaw, under the yoke of a suspicious party, their relationship has to remain secret. While Janusz wants to join the party, Ludwik rebels against his country’s unjust politics. Each of them faces a life choice: betray or betray yourself to protect those you love? elegant pen, alternately sensual, melancholic and disturbing, Tomasz Jedrowski immerses us in a moving sentimental and political formation behind the Iron Curtain.” (presentation by Editions of La Croisee)
