Born in Detroit in 1950, Stanley Ted Edwards discovered the clown in the 1970s. He began performing in Europe and had a triumph in France, appearing in Le Splendid for nine months between 1987 and 1988.

He also owes his popularity to his crazy interventions in the cult show on French channel Canal+ Nowhere else, alongside Antoine de Caunes. Since his death was announced, fans have shared the most famous sequences. So the clown ends up running after José Garcia on the set of the show, with a bag of confetti in hand.

In 2009, Jango Edwards founded an institute in Barcelona, ​​​​​​where he had lived for a number of years with his wife Cristi Garbo, dedicated to the “new clown”, a freer practice of this stage art. He had just written a book called The Clown’s Bibleaccording to his spokeswoman Claire Gontaud.

The mayor of the Catalan city, Jaume Collboni, paid tribute to him on Twitter on Saturday by renaming him X and saluting “The master of clowns and in the heart of these Barcelona people”. “I am sure that he will continue to illuminate the lives of the souls that accompany him.”he added.
