Spectator dies at Taylor Swift concert in Brazil

“JI can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it’s with a broken heart that I tell you we lost a fan tonight. » In an emotional message on Instagram, singer Taylor Swift announced that a spectator died during her concert at the Olympic Stadium in Rio on Friday, November 17th. Ana Benavides, a 23-year-old young woman, reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and lost consciousness during the American superstar’s performance. The doctors present tried in vain to resuscitate her before her death was officially announced at the hospital.

A friend of the victim told the Brazilian newspaper Globo that the latter had felt bad from the first song of the show. The incident occurred as Brazil battled an exceptional heatwave. In the Rio Stadium, where the artist stopped on his “The Eras Tour” on Friday, the temperature is said to have exceeded 37 degrees. During the course of the evening, Taylor Swift even asked the staff to provide the audience with water and threw bottles into the crowd herself.
