“Étienne Dinet”, when art brings France and Algeria together

With his bright and moving paintings populated by charmers, dancers, merchants, orators, lovers and muezzins in the Algerian oases, the French painter Étienne Dinet (1861-1929) succeeded in portraying both colonial France and “Independent Algeria”. to seduce and fascinate. Today he is considered a master of Algerian painting and the Institute of the Arab World (IMA) in Paris is dedicating to him the first exhibition in a French institution in a century: “Étienne Dinet, Algerian Passions”.
