Erase the crime scene of mother’s death – Corriere.it

From Simona Marchetti

According to Lindsey Anderson Beer, who until recently was a live-action screenwriter, the reason younger people have difficulty watching the original film is because it depicts the end of a parent, always a sensitive subject

The long-awaited live-action remake of “Bambi” has to be less traumatic than the animated original, in which the little fawn’s mother dies. Lindsey Anderson Beer, until recently the screenwriter responsible for the new project, is convinced of this, but had to leave due to overlapping new work commitments. However, the remake is still in the works and she hopes its guidelines are followed. “The interesting thing about ‘Bambi’ is that it’s definitely a classic – explains Anderson Beer to Collider – and a beautiful love poem. However, I think there is a whole generation of children who have never seen the original, unlike, say, The Little Mermaid or Aladdin, and that’s a real shame because Bambi is an absolutely wonderful film.”

According to the screenwriter, one of the problems associated with the original film’s poor distribution among younger viewers is that it depicts the death of a parent, which is always a sensitive subject for both children and adults. “I believe there is a way to modernize Bambi and our intention was to give it a broader scope, to make it a film suitable for today’s children so that they can watch it can better understand the original version, and that would certainly help the children.” Now we just have to wait for the remake to find out whether Anderson Beer’s instructions were also followed by the new screenwriting team.
