Guerlain has reportedly developed a beauty cream based on so-called quantum technologies. The terms immediately sparked a reaction from scientists.
This anti-aging cream presents itself as a revolution in the world of cosmetics. For 650 euros per can, the elixir promises skin rejuvenation thanks to quantum physics, a science that explains the world in miniature. Guerlain Did he really make a revolutionary discovery? The brand would be able to do this thanks to the properties of a mysterious orchid “Targeting a cell’s quantum light emission”.
“When we talk about quantum light, that would mean that light has quite mysterious quantum properties. (…) In fact, light consists of small individual grains, photons. Every little grain is actually a quantum, but light as a whole is no longer a quantum at all.”comments Julien Bobroff, professor of physics at the University of Paris-Saclay.
A formula that is close to many others
In view of the controversy, the multinational corporation initially justified itself in one “Proven Results” and is expected to collaborate with scientists at Pakacky University in the Czech Republic. The dean of the university’s science faculty, Martin Kabala, was contacted and regretted not having done so “no influence” At “the fact that the trade name of the product is completely meaningless from a scientific point of view” and refuses as “a serious research institution”ce “kind of advertising”.
Laurence Soiffard, Doctor of Pharmacy and Professor of Cosmetology at the University of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique), sees the composition of the treatment this way “A formula similar to many formulas on the market apart from the price”. Guerlain finally backed down and deleted the word “Quantum” pay.
