Virginie Besson-Silla, a woman in the shadows, is a producer. She has been producing films that have been successful in the cinema for over 20 years. She is one of the few women practicing this profession in France. She was at the Deauville festival to promote her latest film, “DogMan,” directed by Luc Besson, her husband. “It’s true that I’m the wife of, but it’s true that no one ever tells me that I’m the producer of. I’m not sure there are many people who know I’m a producer. But hey, it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t bother me. I don’t want to be in the spotlight, so this suits me just fine“.

As a teenager, she dreamed of becoming an airplane pilot. By accompanying her actress sister, who was filming a film in Guyana, she discovered the background of a film and developed a passion for the world of cinema. “When I got home, I said to my dad, “This is what I want to do: movies.”“,” explains Virginie Besson-Silla. After studying business administration and marketing, she switched to the world of cinema and initially worked in the areas of marketing, communications and foreign sales. In 2001 she produced her first film “Yamakasi”, a huge box office success and the beginning of a long career as a producer.
