Aitana, Feid and Manuel Turizo were the favorites of the evening with six nominations each. THE40 Music Awards Santander, held this Friday at the WiZink Center in Madrid, did not leave empty-handed: Aitana won two awards and Feid and Turizo three each. Camilo, Ozuna, Loreen and Lola Indigo were also recognized. Shakira won one of the Golden Music Awards, which honors the career of a personality, and turned out to be one of the phenomena of the evening even without being present: the Colombian sent a thank you video and also a performance. Those who accepted their Golden Award were Ozuna and the members of Take That, who also performed two songs to kick off their new tour.
Ozuna was the first artist to perform at a gala hosted by Tony Aguilar, Cristina Boscá and Dani Moreno, The roosterThey were masters of ceremonies along with other Spanish and Latin American colleagues. Ozuna, who has won 12 Grammy Awards, was nominated in five categories but ultimately won only two: best Latin urban collaboration for Hello more, with envy; and a Golden Award for the dissemination of urban genres, but also for its solidarity character. “I love Spain very much, I am grateful to LOS40, the urban genre and the new generation,” he said, referring to many of those present. “To the new generation: keep fighting.”
One of the great performances of the evening was the performance by the group Take That, which evoked nostalgia in the over 30s, especially when they sang patience (2006). The song marked the group’s return after a 10-year hiatus. And the band, which has now become a trio consisting of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, has been deconstructed and rebuilt several times since its formation in 1989.

The Swede Loreen, two-time winner of the Eurovision Song Contest and now also a music prize winner in the “International Artist” category, also appeared on the LOS40 stage. Loreen competed against artists such as Miley Cyrus, Sam Smith and Taylor Swift. “I didn’t expect this thanks to the universe and my family,” she said, surprised by the large audience she later sang in front of.
Emilia, one of the representatives of urban music in Argentina, performed before her. The singer belongs to the same generation as the ubiquitous Bizarrap, Tiago PZK or Duki, award-winning Latin American live artists. The rapper was one of the first to make the leap from the cockfights in the parks of Buenos Aires to the recording studios. Emilia was later followed by her compatriot María Becerra, who reached the milestone of selling all tickets to Argentina’s largest stadium, the Más Monumental, in just one hour. Both Emilia and María Becerra went home with a prize.
New categories
The pulse of urban music in the industry has impacted not only the winners but also the categories of the LOS40 Music Awards Santander. New awards were presented this year: best Urban Revelation artist in the Spain category, which Saiko won; and best urban collaboration (the aforementioned Ozuna and Feid); and best urban song in the “Global Latin” category, which went to the award Nobel 101also by Feid, who defended the young Miko and brought him on stage, who accompanied him on the song and who turned out to be a Latin American revelation.
Camilo was one of the most anticipated performances, judging by the audience’s shouts when his name was called. The scream was repeated again when, surprisingly, the artist and his wife Eva Luna also came on stage to perform one of their most popular songs: indigo, name of their daughter. The artist, who won the Best Latin award, also used one of his songs to remind us that “a tour in Spain is coming”; although we have to wait until 2024.
Among the artists honored is Lola Indigo for her tour Dragons. The singer, regular at the LOS40 Music Awards, offered one of the great shows of the evening with a production in which, as is her habit, her team of dancers was the protagonist, this time together with a great audiovisual fireworks display.
Also on stage were Ana Mena, Abraham Mateo and Chanel, who won an award for their song Clavaito; Nil Moliner, Álvaro de Luna, David Bisbal and Maikel Delacalle. There was also time for ballads with Ton Odell playing the piano Black Friday j Another love. The song came out in 2013, but social networks have extended its lifespan. Odell won the award for best live artist in the international category. In the same section, the best song went to Dua Lipa Dance the night away; and the international album award went to Taylor Swift for midnight.
