The publisher who owns the rights to the spy has commissioned a novel about 007 foiling a conspiracy against royal ceremonies.
On the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III. A new James Bond novel will be released in May, in which Britain’s best-known spy will attempt to thwart an attack disrupting the royal ceremony, the book’s publisher said on Friday.
Ian Fleming Publications, the company that owns the literary rights to the character created by Ian Fleming, has announced that it has asked Charlie Higson to write this new adventure. The 64-year-old British author and actor, and a big fan of 007, is already at work on five novels that tell the adventures of a teenage James Bond and written for a young audience.

The new novel is due out on May 4th, two days before the coronation of King Charles III. on May 6th On His Majesty’s Secret Servicemale version of the title of Ian Fleming’s 10th novel published 60 years ago: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service). “The Coronation of King Charles III. is a momentous event for the country”explained Corinne Turner, Managing Director of Ian Fleming Publications. “We asked ourselves how we could celebrate it and the answer seemed obvious to us. The book On Her Majesty’s Secret Service by Ian Fleming was first published on April 1, 1963. What better way to mark this new chapter in history 60 years later than publishing a brand new story?”
Set in the present day, two days before the king’s coronation, the new installment sees Bond tasked with thwarting a last-minute attack aimed at disrupting the ceremony. “When Ian Fleming Publications approached me a little over a month ago with the idea of writing an adult Bond story, I was super excited. Until I realized it had to be ready for the coronation in May.”said Charlie Higson.
All royalties from the sale of the book are used to support a reading and writing club for underprivileged children.
