This cult show is back on TF1, but not everyone will like the time slot

After six years of absence, a famous reality TV show is making its comeback to the screens of TF1 in April with an extremely destabilizing show.

After a notable six-year absence, a famous reality TV show is making its comeback to TF1 screens in April. The show is moderated by a face familiar to viewers of the first channel: Christophe Beaugrand, who has served as presenter for the last three seasons. This cult show from the late 2000s and early 2010s returns on Tuesday, April 23rd and officially begins its twelfth season. And TF1 is banking heavily on its audience’s sense of nostalgia and hopes to relive the success of previous editions.

In a context in which the channel has already relaunched several cult programs such as Star Academy or Plus belle la vie, the return of Secret Story, since it is this show, is part of the strategy to rehabilitate emblematic programs of the last ten or twenty Years of TF1. Jean-Louis Blot, president of Endemol France and producer of Secret Story, did not hide his excitement at the idea of bringing this brand back to life, emphasizing the importance of showing that “people love it”.

However, the broadcast schedule of this new edition raises questions. The start is scheduled for April 23rd in the second part of the evening at 11:30 p.m., directly to Koh-Lanta. Secret Story will then have no place in prime time or even in the second part of the evening. Rémi Faure, head of streaming programs at TF1, justifies this choice with the channel’s already full program, in particular Koh Lanta on Tuesday, Dancing with the Stars on Friday evening, soon followed by Mask Singer, which also already occupies a bonus as a second later Part.

Therefore, to watch “Secret Story” on TV, you must be in front of your screen at 5:30 p.m. every day, Monday to Friday. Eliminations are not eligible for special broadcast and will be announced in the daily news on Friday. In particular, the aim of TF1 is to reach a wider audience, available at the end of the afternoon. For this reason, the producers are undoubtedly also announcing a completely revamped program, more family-friendly and far away from the clashes, trash and stories of couples (or even sex) that have so far made its reputation.

However, this schedule may not be suitable for everyone, especially young audiences. The latter is made up for by another broadcast at 7:05 p.m. on TFX and, above all, by a daily connection to the “House of Secrets” via the TF1+ platform, then between 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. 10 p.m. Short live sessions full of advertising , which undoubtedly represent the real strategic advantage of the program for the group.

The production also announced a number of new features for Secret Story, the most notable of which is undoubtedly the relocation of the House of Secrets to Poissy. This new home, the largest ever built for the show, will feature a “play area” inspired by the “Squid Game” series…

The casting for this twelfth season, which was compiled from 22,000 applications and completed by a “wild” casting process, remains a mystery for now. The winner will receive a check for 100,000 euros in addition to their personal prize pool accumulated during the adventure.
