The Smashing Pumpkins are looking for a new guitarist

Following Jeff Schroeder’s departure in October, the alternative rock group posted an announcement on social media Friday about recruiting new talent.

The announcement follows the October departure of Jeff Schroeder, who had been the group’s guitarist since 2007. Originally formed in Chicago in the late 1980s, the Smashing Pumpkins reached their heyday in the 1990s with lead singer Billy Corgan. Their metal music, mixed with more pop elements, made them an icon of a generation until their dissolution in 2000.

Billy Corgan re-formed the group in 2006, which now has to define its style with a fourth member before a European tour with the group Weezer. Their first concert will take place on June 7th in Birmingham, England. They will join Green Day’s North American stadium tour at the end of July.
