“The Rewritten End”, Amedeo Giovanni Tita’s debut novella

A plausible, sometimes surreal story told through images in the rhythm of comedy to smooth the boundaries of the drama of the inner loneliness of the protagonists: “The Rewritten Finale”, the debut novel by Amedeo Giovanni Tita, has just been published by Edizioni Artemis .

Set in Los Angeles in 2016, with further developments until 2018 and an ending that takes the reader to the near future of 2024, Bob and Francis are not only the protagonists of the adventure told by Tita, but also the two cogs in it big adventure money machine that revolves around Hollywood: “the cinema”, where icons like Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck live again.

Bob and Francis prove to be mirrors of two personalities and two very different paths that would never have met had it not been for an extraordinary event of which they are unaware. Together they will rewrite “Meet John Doe”, which director Frank Capra brought to the cinema in 1941 (in Italy the film was first released under the title “Arriva John Doe” and was then re-distributed in 1956 as “The Dominators of the Metropolis”). As they work on the script, Bob and Francis will discover that together they have rewritten their destinies. In the novel, between hopes and painful notes, a message appears that seems to come from the same filmography of Frank Capra, author of the unforgettable “It’s a Wonderful Life”: “To each other we are instruments of God’s redemption.”

Amedeo Giovanni Tita was born in Forlì on March 5, 1969, the same month and day as Lucio Battisti, of whom he is a big fan. The son of Lucanian parents, he has lived in Bologna since he was five years old, where he completed his engineering studies and pursued his professional career. He has always had a passion for cinema, especially the so-called Golden Age of Hollywood. He prefers Vittorio De Sica as an actor to De Sica as a director, Pietro Germi to Roberto Rossellini, Giovanni Guareschi to Cesare Zavattini, The Count of Monte Cristo to The Pillars of the Earth. He says about himself: “Raised according to Christian principles, which he has always shared, he has a secular and liberal worldview, open to social issues.” He has been married to Francesca since 1997 and is the father of five children.
