The lesson in humility that Gorka, David Seco and Daniel receive in RTVE’s El Conquistador

RTVE’s El Conquistador puts everyone in their place. Yesterday he did it, yes and in what way, with a grappling test that was a real reality check for three of the big favorites. And in addition to great physical strength, solid experience and great mental abilities, adventure also requires hand in hand with a variable that ultimately makes the difference: luck. And yesterday that proved elusive for Gorka, David Seco and Daniel as they left – much sooner than expected – the adventure reality show hosted by Julian Iantzi and Raquel Sánchez Silva. The reason? A truly demanding hook challenge, perhaps too demanding when strength fails and lack of food begins to significantly affect the participants of El Conquistador. Euxebi couldn’t have put it better upon his return to Alcatraz after the elimination test: “Anyone who left here wouldn’t have done it.”

Skill and luck in RTVE’s El Conquistador

The chronicle of a death predicted has already been written in the context of the immunity test, a test that Raquel Sánchez Silva described as “diabolical”. No wonder that the twelve participants – divided into three groups of four – had to demonstrate their skills by first reaching a hook with a rope and then grabbing the valuable shovel. This was the only way they could get to work digging a hole to escape the cage in which they were trapped. The challenge was clear, even if the composition of the teams was not so clear. Because the decision of Gorka, David Seco and the twins of the Yocahu team – the so-called Dream Team – to go together was the final straw that broke the Yocahu’s coexistence. And the criticism, the tensions and the accusations intensified. And how. “The votes will strike like daggers,” assured Agustín, while at the same time Montoya complained: “Here people say they don’t speculate, and they’ve been doing that for a long time.” The Yocahu powder keg had exploded and there was no going back.

Be that as it may, the “leftovers” of the Yocahu team gave their best in the grapple test and Azo’s goal ultimately decided the duel. The canary was the first to attract the hook, and after he got hold of the shovel, everything was child’s play: they dug a hole – not without effort – and managed to open a hole through which they could escape from the cage . As previously agreed, Puma had gone first and had the honor of raising the flag that guaranteed his immunity in El Conquistador. Agustín, for his part, was given a bag of rice that he really enjoyed. In the end, Puma decided to take Montoya with him to the rich man’s camp as a companion, after Azo surprisingly gave her up out of friendship, of course.

The Yocahu harmony is broken in El Conquistador

After a group agreement in the Dream Team, Daniel applied to be the first duelist. The name of the second remained unclear, which was clarified at the meeting in the bat cave. Yes, there was excitement, but the Corocote Chase was able to breathe a sigh of relief after a vote that was closer than expected and which, of course, ended with Gorka as the second duelist (with 6 yes votes and another 4 for Lucas).

And all this after a very tense meeting with two clearly opposing sides, in which there was an intense exchange of “knives” and accusations. The “emotional blackmail” as Agustín described it didn’t work and the Dream Team’s “drops” had no compassion for their former teammates, from whom they demanded more humility. And meanwhile Raquel Sánchez Silva and Julian Iantzi, without believing what they saw. The Plasencia presenter herself summed it up beautifully: “It’s not that there’s a crack, it’s the Yocahu Tower blowing up.”

The name of the third duelist was also surprising, as Puma was not in the least afraid to bring David Seco’s name to light. “I wouldn’t like to see you in the final,” he argued with difficulty. The one from Busturia, a veteran, didn’t believe him in the least and said it to his face: “There has never been such a betrayal and such a stab wound in the 19 seasons of El Conquis.” No matter, Puma, Azo, Montoya and Agustín made it clear that they didn’t even want to see their former teammates Yocahu. And for this reason, to the astonishment of the Corocote, they had been put in danger. A restless river…

Gorka, David Seco and Daniel, goodbye to the adventure

The elimination test of RTVE’s El Conquistador had one major difficulty: the duelists had to ride four zip lines by throwing a hook on their respective bows, only… they were not allowed to touch the water while trying to cross them. The difficulty was extreme, too great, and Daniel and Gorka barely managed to cross the first zip line: the next arch was too far away and they couldn’t even reach it with the hook… and it wasn’t for lack of trying.

The surprise was big, but Julian Iantzi and Raquel Sánchez Silva were unable to make any further decisions: the three were eliminated from El Conquistador. Lesaka called it “incredible,” while Gorka summed up the overall feeling: “It’s the hardest experience I’ve ever had in my life.”
