“The Emperor’s Sands”: a love story against the backdrop of colonial violence

Victor de Oliveira puts together with actors from Mozambique and Portugal an adaptation of Mia COUTO’s “The Emperor’s Sands”, which tells a love story between Germano, a Portuguese soldier exiled in Mozambique, and Imani, his Mozambican interpreter, whose mastery of the Portuguese language seems to distance him from his colleagues.
