“The Beaten” by Louis Witter, in Hell at Calais

Photojournalist Louis Witter spent 18 months near Calais with exiles waiting to cross the 30km sea that separates France from England, the final leg of their migration route. Through his lens, he wanted to highlight the violent political and police strategy used by the French authorities to combat immigration. But since the photos don’t tell everything, he put his story down on paper. his first book the beatwas published by Editions du Seuil.
