It’s Friday, time for the playlist with the new music of the week!
When spring slowly arrives, temperatures remain low and the weather is moody, we can always expect music releases! And this Friday, in this new week of April, several new releases can be found on streaming listening platforms and in the bins of our music stores. The phenomenon is hard to miss Taylor Swiftwho unveils his highly anticipated new project, a double album called The Tortured Poets Department.
Also note this Friday April 19th the new EP by the singer Voyou, but also the album with remixes by Mylène Farmer. Plug in the speakers, turn up the volume, here’s the playlist of this week’s releases:
Taylor Swift – The Tortured Poets Department
Superstar Taylor Swift is releasing her highly (longingly?) anticipated new album this Friday, titled The Tortured Poets Department and that counts… 31 pieces. A nice surprise for Swifties – Taylor Swift fans who discovered at midnight that this record was actually a double album. “I have written so many tortured poems in the last two years and wanted to share them all with you, so here is the second part of The Tortured Poets Section: The Anthology. 15 additional songs,” writes the singer on social networks.
Mylène Farmer – Remix XL
Singer Mylène Farmer releases this Friday Remix XL, his covers album: a total of 21 reworked songs, some of which benefited from a new recording of his voice. The artists who took part in the remix game include the crème de la crème of the French electronic scene, from Arnaud Rebotini to Feder to The Avener, Cut Killer and The Magician to director David Lynch. Mylène Farmer will perform at the Stade de France on September 27th, 28th and October 1st 2024 – three full dates.
villain – Alone
After selling out Olympia last January, Voyou continues their momentum by releasing a new EP titled Alone and counts six pieces, including his duet with Vanessa Paradis Prom and another, unreleased, with the singer Pi Ja Ma and the title The nipples. We also discover Aloneeponymous title that the artist had already tested in concert, and rightly so.
Cigarettes after sex – Dark holiday
The Americans from Cigarettes After Sex continue to announce their upcoming album with a new single called Dark Vacay. Part of the captivating and immersive pop continuity that makes the group successful, for a new flavor of X’s, announced in stores July 12th. Cigarettes After Sex will perform at the Accor Arena in Paris on November 16th and at the Hall Tony Garnier in Lyon on November 17th.
pearl jam – Dark matter
We close with this week’s rock release, Pearl Jam’s twelfth studio album: Dark matter. The album, consisting of eleven tracks, was already announced with three singles: Running, Dark matter the song of the same name and debris. Formed in 1990, the group led by Eddie Vedder offered for this project the services of the famous American producer Andrew Watt, who has worked with artists such as Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Miley Cyrus, the Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osbourne and Iggy Pop.
