she is exhibiting her photos for the first time in Creuse

Annie Duperey was present in Guéret at the beginning of May to present two exhibitions dedicated to her work as a photographer. This is the first time she has been exhibited in Creuse, a department where she resides regularly. Black and white photos can be discovered in the garden of the Hôtel du Département until September 30th. “This exhibition is 20 years of photos I thought I wouldn’t show anyone. Until a few years ago a friend from Corrèze told me that he thought they were great and that he wanted to show them.” says the actress. “After all, it moves me a lot when photos that I took for myself and out of passion are suddenly shared by people.”.

Travel memories, still lifes or portraits of friends and relatives can be discovered in large format. For example, visitors will recognize the late comedian Bernard Giraudeau, his former companion and father of his two children, who died in 2010.

Or this great portrait of Isabelle Adjani that almost never saw the light of day. As Anny Duperey tells it. “I see the light and tell myself I have to take the picture. And then I look at my film, I had already taken 36 photos, it was finished. I switched the camera and there was a 37th photo on a roll of 36!”

Father and daughter parallel

In addition to this outdoor exhibition, other photos of the actress can be seen in the Grand Guéret library. They this time face those of his own father, Lucien Legras, who was a professional photographer.

Annie Duperey tragically lost her parents when she was only eight years old. His father’s negatives sat in the shadow of a closet for many years. This parallel presentation of their work reveals similarities between father and daughter. “I discovered that I had taken similar photos to him for many, really in the same vein. I told myself that there was a transmission history that was either unconscious or very strange.”. A resonance between the two artists to discover until June 13th.
