Sergio Rico, PSG goalkeeper, in serious condition following a riding accident

BarcelonaPSG’s Andalusian goalkeeper Sergio Rico is in serious condition after falling while riding. The accident happened in Andalusia, near the town of El Rocío, where the player traveled yesterday after coming on as a substitute in the game against Strasbourg, in which PSG took the point that mathematically declared them champions of the French league. According to the health center, Rico is admitted to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville with a head injury. The same sources tell Efe agency that the PSG goalkeeper “has been admitted to assess the extent of the fall” and that “his general condition is serious”. The horse would have hit him in the head after the fall. The horse he was riding would have become nervous and caused the fall.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper, trained at the Seville academy, was called up by PSG this Saturday for the penultimate game of the French league in Strasbourg, where he drew (1-1) and was crowned champion. After the game, Sergio Rico moved to the town of El Rocío, where the pilgrimage is celebrated these days, and it was a quarter to nine this morning when he suffered the accident that forced him to go to the hospital.
