Real Madrid respond to Joan Laporta by misrepresenting the history of the Franco regime

BarcelonaJoan Laporta’s expected performance this Monday in the Negreira case was marked, among other things, by the arrows that the President of Barça threw at Real Madrid, personified in the case against the Blaugrana club. Laporta defined the Whites as “the regime’s team” and Madrid wanted to answer him tonight. He did this with a video on his social networks entitled “What is the regime team?”. and that by misrepresenting history he is trying to associate Barça with the Franco regime.

The video, which is filled with images of the no-do with exaggerated phrases reinterpreting the events narrated within, makes no mention of the shooting of former Barcelona President Josep Sunyol for his status as an ERC MP, nor any episodes like the imposition of Spanish or the change of club name due to the repression of Catalan during the Franco dictatorship.

Madrid plays with history by saying that the regime’s minister general, José Solís Ruiz, inaugurated the Camp Nou or that the golden and glittering badge was awarded to Franco, ignoring that the club won it in 2019 as well as two other medals has withdrawn. which he had received by imposition. It is also shamelessly claimed that Franco saved Barça from bankruptcy ‘three times’ on top of the titles the Blaugrana won during the regime.

In the end, and contrary to Barça’s alleged affinity with Francoism, the video indicates that Madrid were in a “critical” situation in 1939, with their headquarters bombed, trophies stolen and only 5 players in the squad. “The rest were exiled or arrested by the victors,” says the off-commentary, shortly before a recording of the former president can be heard Merengue Santiago Bernabéu: “When I hear that Madrid was the regime’s team, I want to shit on the father of the person who said that.”
