Police confirm eight children killed in Shreveport domestic shooting, suspect fatally shot by officers

Eight children aged between one and 14 were shot dead in Shreveport, Louisiana, early Sunday morning after a domestic dispute turned fatal, according to police.

Police Chief Wayne Smith said the shooting began around 6 a.m. Local time and involved a single adult male who opened fire on multiple people before fleeing the scene.

Ten people were shot in total, with eight children killed and two others wounded, authorities confirmed.

The suspect acted alone and was later shot by police

Investigators said the suspect fled after the attack and was pursued by law enforcement before being fatally shot during a chase.

The crime scene spanned three locations, requiring additional support from the Louisiana State Police to process evidence and interview witnesses.

Most of the victims were related to the shooter

According to the Associated Press, some of the children killed were related to the suspect, though police have not released names or exact familial ties.
