Pierce Brosnan, the Irish actor ex 007, turns 70

Pierce Brendan Brosnan was born on May 16, 1953 in the port city of Drogheda, Ireland. His carpenter father Thomas Brosnan left the family when Pierce was an infant and his mother May moved to London to work as a nurse a few years later, leaving her son in the care of his grandparents Philip and Kathleen Smith. In 1964, mother and son reunited and lived in the town of Longniddry, Scotland.
