Organized in collaboration with the Hergé Museum in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium), the route takes young and old on board in search of Chang, Tintin’s friend, who got lost in the Himalayas. An epic that appeals to audiences aged 7 to 77. “At 75 years old, I’m still a child, it reminds me of a whole era of history,” tastes good to a visitor.

On a hundred plates, all original, fans discover the world of the explorer and his loyal companions. Captain Haddock and of course Snowy are there. “Tintin remains timeless and is really well written for children, they are real adventures” says a happy mother with her daughter, who confirms “I love it, I think it’s really great.”

The black and white drawings from 1934, the documentation sheets and sketches allow us to witness the birth of the characters of Georges Remi alias Hergé. We also discover his great creative diversity, from illustration to comics, advertising, press cartoons and fine art.

“He is an incredible artist, one of the greatest of the 20th century. He is an iconic figure in art history, a very distinctive personality that everyone knows without really knowing him.” assures Adrien Bossard, director of the Asian Arts Museum and the Lympia Space. Hergé is considered the father of modern comics and paved the way for this medium, which has since established itself in the art of storytelling, by creating his own style: the famous Claire line.

Tchang and Hergé: a true friendship

The Adventures of Tintin were first published on January 10, 1929 The little twentieth, weekly supplement to a Belgian youth newspaper. While Hergé dreams of a Tintin in Asia, he meets Tchang Tchong-jen, a young Chinese student who will introduce him to his country’s culture and take part in the creation of the album The Blue Lotus.

When the album was released in 1934, readers witnessed the encounter between Tim and his Chinese alter ego Chang. A meeting that will remain one of the most crucial for the young reporter and for Hergé, as it made him a successful author, designer and screenwriter. His style caught on and throughout the 20th century his fame continued to grow in France and around the world, making him an indispensable fixture.
