Lufthansa has grounded its regional subsidiary Cityline effective immediately amid a fourth consecutive day of strikes by pilots and cabin crew, grounding hundreds of flights across Germany.
The airline cited soaring jet fuel prices and the financial strain of ongoing labor disputes as grounds for the abrupt shutdown, which affects 27 older Canadair jets operated by Cityline and accelerates a previously planned phase-out of the regional brand.
