Jeson releases new EP “Only a man”. “The inspiration came from a film”
Jeson has announced his new EP Solo unuomo (Epic Records/Sony Music), available on all digital platforms from Friday April 12th. With this, the Roman artist and singer-songwriter reaches a new phase in his ever-growing artistic journey, incorporating his songs into a broader project while always maintaining an international stance.
The EP contains six tracks, including previously released singles such as “Perdonare te”, “La Cura Sbagliata”, “Hallelujah”, “Il Mio Posto” and unreleased ones: the title track “Solo un uomo” and “Se pensiero a me”. “Solo unuomo” confirms itself as a project oriented towards R&B sounds, with many influences from different musical genres, including rap, pop, gospel atmospheres as well as electronic twists. The mood is very intimate and personal, focusing on the story Jeson tells about his life and the experiences he has had so far, dividing it into chapters to better reflect on himself and the important value through music to convey self-acceptance.
Jeson describes “Only a man” and his musical project with these words: “’Only a man’ is the focus track of this project, which is very close to my heart. The song essentially contains the message I want to convey through this journey divided into chapters. The inspiration came from a film I saw a while ago. I will quote him below: “Marcus Aurelius decided to hire a servant to accompany him in the squares of Rome. This one only had one job: to whisper in his ear while they showered him with praise: “You are just a man!” I was inspired by this sentence to write a piece in which I entered into a dialogue with my life step and deal with it It’s like it’s a person dear to me. As a project to present my music and myself, I wanted to explain how important it is to accept ourselves as we are, even if life sometimes tries to doubt us. Being afraid of something, not meeting expectations, and suffering for love are all normal things. However, it is important to understand that all of this is often beyond our control since we are just flesh and blood human beings. Nothing more, nothing less.
After collaborating with Marco Mengoni, who chose him to star in the song “Lasciami retro” included in the “Materia Prisma” project, Jeson returns with “Solo unuomo”. the EP in which the musical chapters released from April 7, 2023 are collected, with “Il Mio Posto”, the first single released for Epic Records/Sony Music Italy, intense and gospel-inspired, followed by “Hallelujah” (16 . June 2023), in which the artist’s introspective character comes to the fore thanks to a sincere and direct text, and from “The False Cure”, which is dedicated to the sensitive topic of mental health and is told in the first person by Jeson , which also highlights the value of love and sharing in everyone’s life. The artistic story of “Only a man” also includes “Forgive you,” the piece published on March 8, 2024, in which the story addresses the fragility of a relationship and the concepts of loyalty, trust and forgiveness.
