AGI – An exhibition of over 300 photographs by the great Robert Capa entitled “L’Opera 1932-1954”, curated by Gabriel Bauret, will take place from May 14 to October 13, 2024 in the premises of the Diocesan Museum Carlo Maria Martini, in Milan. The main sponsor is Dils, the new name of Redilco & Sigest, a leading real estate company. The works selected from the archives of the Magnum Photos Agency, co-founded by Capa himself, are arranged chronologically and divided into nine thematic sections, along with photographs, documents, publications and an audio recording, the only one in existence with the voice of Robert Capa lead an emotional journey. Capa rewrote the rules of war photography and elevated everyday life to a symbol of innocence that should be preserved. The photographs capture historical moments immortalized in a cross-section of harsh reality, fragments of life made eternal through his lens, because, as the famous photographer said: “The truth is the best image, its best propaganda.”
The exhibition also explains a lesser-known aspect of the artist, who often conveys a perspective through his photographs that records
It examines the facts from different perspectives, focuses on humanity as the protagonist and shows deep compassion for the victims. Dils’ support for Robert Capa’s exhibition is part of This is my Milano, a multi-year program of fundraising initiatives for the city of Milan, launched in 2023. The next stage of the initiative is dedicated to the Ticino district: on Sunday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., the cloister of the Diocesan Museum will be festively decorated and all visitors will have the opportunity to visit the Robert Capa exhibition free of charge and as a preview.
