Fifteen candidates for Miss France thrown out! Half of the elections are a foregone conclusion

The Miss France 2024 pageant will take place on Saturday, December 16th in Dijon. If the 30 candidates parade from the beginning of the evening, half of them will be eliminated before the show begins. We’ll explain it to you.

On December 16th, a young woman’s life will change completely. On this day, one of the 30 regional misses will be crowned Miss France 2024 in a pageant that will take place at the Zénith in Dijon. The lucky winner will succeed Indira Ampiot, the current defending champion. But before that, the 30 candidates will parade in front of the TF1 cameras and in different environments to represent their region.

Before this major election, the candidates made a preparatory trip to Guyana in November. The Miss France experts were able to use this to assess the candidates’ punctuality, their respect for the rules, their camaraderie, but also their general culture. The Misses were then given a test designed to assess each person’s knowledge. This year the questionnaire was particularly difficult as the average of candidates was 30/60. Miss Alsace achieved the best score with 42.5 out of 60 points.

Because for half of the candidates, the parade in front of the cameras on election night is a parade for free or almost. Less informed people may not know it, but the first phase of the voting, which at the end of the evening will determine the 15 finalists who can hope to be crowned, actually took place behind the scenes a few days earlier.

Even before the start of the competition on Saturday, December 16, at 9:10 p.m., the regional Misses will have to complete several qualifying phases, which include tests conducted in Guyana but also an oral presentation before a jury made up of members of the Miss organization France or TF1. This will take place on December 13th, three days before the election.

During this one-on-one interview lasting a few minutes in front of the pre-selection jury, the candidates have to parade and express themselves. The aim: The Miss France experts will determine whether the young woman in front of them can become a good national ambassador, assessing in particular her eloquence, her motivation and her development over a month. The candidates play everything at this point and have to prepare their outfit, makeup and hairstyle themselves.

A candidate who doesn’t get a good grade in the general knowledge test or makes a bad impression in the oral exam can see her chances of becoming Miss France go up in smoke. The pre-selection interview is, above all, an opportunity for candidates to reveal their true motivation. It may happen that some say they do not feel ready to take on the responsibility that falls to Miss France and do not even want to be among the 15 finalists!

At the end of this observation phase, the jurors vote for the 15 candidates they would like to see among the finalists on the evening of the show. At the start of the Miss France 2024 parade, the fate of half of the candidates and perhaps your favorite has already been decided. The identities of the 15 finalists will not be announced until the evening. From this moment on, viewers can start voting for their favorite candidate.
