Faconauto will elect its new President on June 26th and the application period is now open

MADRID, Apr. 28 (EUROPA-PRESSE) –

The Federation of Car Dealers’ Associations (Faconauto) will elect its new president on June 26, the date on which the organization will nominate a successor to Gerardo Pérez, who has indicated on several occasions that he will not stand for re-election, told Europa Press confirmed by entity sources.

In this sense, the deadline for submitting candidatures is already open and ends on June 16th, ten days before the celebration of the Merchants Association Assembly, where the new first sword of the organization will be elected.

The sources consulted have indicated that to date no candidacy has been presented to replace Pérez, who became President of Faconauto in June 2017, succeeding Jaume Roura who held the position from October 2012 to June 2017.

Pérez, who was elected President of the Alliance of European Vehicle Dealers and Repairers (AECDR) at the end of November, has for the past few months defended the possibility for dealers and repairers to opt for aid from the second call for the strategic project in the recovery and Economic Transformation of the Electric and Connected Vehicle (Perte VEC).

In fact, in statements to the newspaper “Expansión” at the beginning of March, he assured that the distribution sector would be able to invest around 300 million euros if his inclusion in the Perte VEC went through.

In this sense, at the meeting that the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Héctor Gómez, held with the automotive sector in early April, it was noted that the government is looking for a “suitable” for this request.

The biggest stumbling block to this, Gómez told those present, is attributed to Brussels, which has a more “industrial” view of the requirements for receiving subsidies.

Although the date on which the second call for the Perte VEC will be published has not yet been set, the Industry Minister indicated this Friday that the government’s aim is to formulate it next June.

Pérez has developed his entire professional career related to the sale and repair of vehicles. In fact, he is President of the Autogex Group, which sells 6,000 Renault, Alpine, Ford, Kia, Mazda, Dacia and Mitsubishi vehicles a year and employs around 285 people.

He also has extensive experience in automotive industry associations and business associations in Spain, notably as President of the National Association of Renault Dealers (ANCR) or as a member of the Executive Committee of the Spanish Confederation of Organizations. CEOE).
