Exhibition: at Quai Branly, Kehinde Wiley, painter of African presidents

The exhibition Labyrinth of power, at the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris, unveils a unique series of eleven portraits of African heads of state painted by Kehinde Wiley. The American artist of Nigerian origin has been working there since 2012 and this is the first time his confidential project has been shown to the public. He has been an important figure in contemporary art for about ten years and is famous for his portrait of Barak Obama in 2018. He breaks the codes of official portraiture and mixes classical references and pop culture in his hyperrealistic and colorful works bordering on kitsch .
