Nearly one in five adults with obesity has used a glucagon-like peptide-1 agonist, highlighting the widespread challenge of sustaining weight loss after discontinuation. In the study, all participants had previously lost at least 15% of their body weight using tirzepatide before stopping the drug. On average, patients lost about 40 pounds even as on GLP-1 therapy.
Duodenal mucosal resurfacing uses heat to renew intestinal lining

Trial results show treated group regained significantly less weight
Among 45 participants with six months of follow-up, 29 received the resurfacing treatment while 16 underwent a sham procedure. Those who had the actual treatment regained less weight, with more extensive resurfacing linked to only about 7 pounds regained and over 80% of initial loss maintained. The control group regained roughly twice as much weight as the treatment group. Participants in the sham group regained about 40% more weight than those who received the real procedure.
