“Detective Samson”, between dog and magnifying glass – liberation

Liberation reports weekly on the latest in children’s books. Today a rich album in which children have to search for many lost objects and characters.

The mission is challenging, and that takes all the salt Detective Samson. Panic reigns in the city: the magpie has been robbed, the centipede discovers that his shoe rack has been reduced by half the staff, the kittens have escaped from their mother’s house… A massive investigation awaits Detective Samson, who concentrates with one The bowler hat, the brown checkered jacket and the magnifying glass, which are essential for his function, are equipped with the dog-like appearance. The brave dog has to solve six cases at the same time. That’s a lot, isn’t it? Fortunately, the young reader is there to support him.

It’s up to him to find each of the ten kittens, ten chicks, ten boots, ten flowers, ten machine parts and ten lost jewels page by page. To make matters worse, it’s not about discovering the same shoe or piece of jewelry every time, because… who has the same pair of boots in their closet ten times and the same necklace ten times? This is where the kid’s brain melts. He must remember both the list of items that can be found on the pages and the head they may have.

I promise it’s entirely doable – especially since there’s nothing stopping you from checking the list if you need to. And above all: it is super stimulating! This quest takes us to different teeming worlds, from the roar of the city where bats cruise around in a pink sedan, to the snowy mountains where a yeti takes a nap in a hammock, past the ocean where a crab sells hot dogs. The drawings are rich, fun and the elements to be found fit well.

We forgot a small detail: once the six elements on each double page have been identified, the child only has the right to move on to the next if they identify an item or character specific to each universe… Yes, another floor to the rocket this searching and finding, into which, as you have no doubt understood, we delve with great appetite. Fortunately, Samson and the reader can rest after all this. Unless… ? Finally laid in his bubble bath, a polka dot charlotte on his head, it seems the dog has one last mission to complete…
