For the first time at the Venice Film Festival for Dario Argento: the director, who turns 83 today, a few days ago took part in the review to present the biographical documentation about his life filmed by Simone Scafidi. He had never been invited to Venice in the past: “They only chose ‘political’ or committed films,” he told Corriere, “they felt the genre that I was doing was inferior.” Today the directors have changed and the whole culture has changed. Changed for the better. I didn’t suffer, the world I have inside me has always pushed me to rebel and it seemed right that they didn’t invite me because I didn’t feel good. But it was also nice because when a movie came out a few months later, the audience loved it and the whole world moved on in peace.”
