Antolin completes validation of a recycled marine plastic fabric for car interiors

MADRID, July 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Antolin has completed the validation of a recycled polyester fabric using the Seaqual yarn material composed of 10% recycled plastics of marine origin and 90% from terrestrial sources, allowing it to offer its customers and the end user a more comfortable and durable car interior, with which same properties as those already made from non-plastic raw materials.

Thus, the lining of the door panel inserts inside a vehicle can be made with the Seaqual Yarn material, while Antolin has already “satisfactorily performed the tests of the associated industrial processes such as press lamination, cutting, impregnation of adhesives and coating”.

More specifically, at the beginning of June, Antolin announced its alliance with the Seaqual Initiative collaborative community to be able to develop this solution, in which Antex also participates as thread supplier and Textil Santanderina as fabric supplier.

Marine plastic comes from waste reclaimed from oceans, beaches, rivers and estuaries, while land-based plastic gives a second life to fully recyclable post-consumer plastic waste, the company explained.

As part of the three pillars of Antolin’s responsible business strategy – Planet, People and Business – the company is committed to incorporating 40% sustainable plastic material in the products it supplies to customers by 2040, with a base year of 2022.
