If Andy and Lucas assured a few days ago that they would not be acting in a municipality governed by EH Bildu, it is now a coalition mayor who assures that she does not want to receive a visit from the Cadiz duo. “If they call us to play at Gay Pride, we go too. We make music. Another thing is that he calls me Bildu. If Bildu calls me, I won’t go, they are ETA members and they killed people,” Lucas González said in an interview with Europa Press this Friday on the occasion of the release of his latest album, ’20 years in more than 20 songs’. Well Ima Garrastatxu, First Mayor of Durango, wanted to respond with a very ironic message.

Lucas González’s statements caused a stir on social networks. Dozens of comments between critics and support from Twitter users. The same social network was chosen by the Mayor of Durango, Ima Garrastatxu, to respond to the Cadiz duo. He uses the proximity of the elections and wants to make “an election promise with, from experience, great social support”. The First Mayor has asserted that if her coalition governs, “Andy and Lucas will not return to Durango, for them or for us.”

The mayor attached two images to her message, both taken from news published in El Correo. The first is one of the duo’s controversial statements, the second refers to a concert they wanted to give four and a half years ago, which is why they secured “great social support” for their proposal. “Andy and Lucas concert canceled in Durango on Saturday,” reads the headline. The reason: Not enough tickets were sold to make direct mail profitable. Therefore, the organizers decided to cancel the show from the schedule. The news dates back to November 2018 and, as Garrastatxu puts it in context, “six months later, EH Bildu won the mayoralty”.

Andy and Lucas had invited Durango’s Landako Gunea to present their eighth album, Nueva Vida. At that time, Aitziber Irigoras of the PNV ruled the city. The following year, in the 2019 election, the Jeltzales were again the top-voted force, but they did not get the Makila. A settlement between Bildu and Podemos resulted in Ima Garrastatxu, who is running for re-election, winning the mayoralty.
