An ultramarine named Julien Creuzet, representing France at the Venice Biennale

When I virtually browsed Julien Creuzet’s studio, I thought I found these words by Edouard Glissant. The poet chooses, chooses from the mass of the world what he must preserve, sing, save and what suits his song. I couldn’t have said it better, thank you very much, Mr. Everybody.

It’s a party, champagne, it’s a great day in G major that you can catch in the blink of an eye Julien Creuzet, Videographer, visual artist, poet, at the intersection of European, African and Indian cultures – a French artist – who has the initiative the French Institute will represent our country at the 60th Venice International Art Biennale. And the radio half-heartedly pointed out that he would be the first black man to do so. Exhibited in London, Kampala, Bamako, Frankfurt, Paris, at the Art Givens Prize 2022 at Art Basel and nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Prize 2021, Creuzet’s path is one of a hybridity inherent in his singing, poetic and necessary politically.
