Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has made a commitment to the national automotive industry to work on an “optimal and realistic” solution to the Euro 7 regulation during the Spanish EU Council Presidency (in the second half of the year) “Investments for the transition to zero-emission vehicles with the limit values make it compatible with pollutant emissions”.
The current proposal for the Euro 7 regulation, which is more restrictive in terms of pollutant emissions for cars in the European Union, has received a strong response from the industry, which believes that this will even lead to the closure of factories and the resulting Job losses can result. . .
In this way, Sánchez also informed the representatives of the Spanish automotive industry who were present that the government would work on identifying “new measures to accelerate the electrification of the sector”.
In this regard, Sánchez has stated that the Ministry of Transport, Urban Planning and Urban Mobility will “soon” publish new regulations that will speed up the installation of charging points on the national road network.
A reinforcement of the incentive program for the purchase of electric vehicles and the installation of charging points has also progressed, the so-called Moves III, by expanding the possibility of electrifying commercial fleets up to 250 cars and enabling the promotion of used vehicles, “thus increasing the supply on the market is increased,” the government stressed in a statement.
In addition, the digitization of procedures is being promoted in the autonomous communities that do not yet have one, and before the end of May the Geoportal will be operational, allowing users to locate charging points and their status throughout Spain.
Another issue carried over to the automotive industry is the commitment of the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) to publish a new circular on access and connection to the network “to facilitate the processing of charging points”.
For its part, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) has also agreed to inform and train municipal technicians to facilitate the processing of charging stations in town halls “to promote the use of responsible declarations, one of the necks Group identified in the work for the Deployment of Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (Gtirve)”.
Sánchez has highlighted the “strategic nature of the automotive industry and its electrification” and defended that the Executive’s position in this regard was reflected in the Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of the Electric and Connected Vehicle (Perte VEC), “which approved first was” or the “relocation plans”.
