Following New Generation, Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy are back in cinemas this Wednesday, May 31 in the animated feature Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse. We’ve seen it, here’s our take.

In 2018 Spider-Man: New Generation (available on Disney++) brought Spider-Man up to date while offering an animated film that was as surprising as it was trendy. Six years later, Miles Morales is back Spider-Man: Across the Spiderversein cinemas this Wednesday, May 30, 2023. The multiverse expands, expands and becomes more complex as Miles Morales is directly torn between his duty as a superhero and his personal life.
New generation was already a true gem of animated cinema, reminding those who had mistakenly forgotten that even animated films could surprise and revolutionize the seventh art. It seemed impossible though Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse has managed to go even further, exploring graphic boundaries and pushing aesthetic and sonic boundaries, completely blasting the mythos of Spider-Man to offer a true reflection on the character of the superhero while adopting his formal ambitions and narrative .
Richer, denser, more graphic, Across the Spiderverse is a real eye-catcher that takes on the challenge of being even better than the first film with panache. We can blame the film for the length of the first part and above all for the fact that the story is not over yet (a sequel is expected in 2024). But these are very minor flaws compared to the tremendous qualities of the device animated film. And even if the film lasts 2 hours and 20 minutes, we can’t wait to go back there and discover new details that are imperceptible on first viewing. Of course Spider-Man fans should go to the cinema. The others too, because few films are capable of a show of this magnitude.
Summary – After Miles Morales finds Gwen Stacy after being separated for several months, he finds himself in the multiverse. There he meets a team of spider heroes whose mission is to protect the existence of parallel worlds. But soon our heroes are at odds over how to defeat a new threat.
